BIO

Tony earned a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry (with Paul Helquist @ SUNY Stony Brook) and did postdoctoral work with Professor E. J Corey, Nobel Laureate at Harvard University. Tony was a medicinal chemist at Pfizer Global Research and Development for his entire career where he was actively involved in the inflammation, allergy and respiratory, and infectious disease areas. With over 39 years of drug discovery and development experience,he has well over 100 patents and publications and has given numerous scientific presentations over the years. Tony was directly involved in the discovery of 26 nominated and clinically advanced candidates, one marketed medicine, and a second soon to be marketed. As a recognized internal/external pro-drug expert with vast experience in the design, synthesis, and development of pro-drug based clinical candidates and marketed prodrugs, Tony continues to apply his extensive experience consulting: in medicines, prodrugs, medicinal design and discovery, pharmaceutical patents, third-party due diligence evaluations, and as an expert witness. One of the founders of BioPharmaWorks, Tony is currently working with various pharma and biotech companies on novel approaches to address unmet medical needs. Tony is also a "gentleman" farmer that runs his bucolic sheep farm in Mystic CT and practices BC methods of farming, apart of his upbringing while growing upon a Adriatic Sea island in Croatia and in a small seaside farming/fishing village of 7 homes.
